Every spring, I’d explore the woods near my parents’ Iowa farm with my family, picking handfuls of Virginia bluebells and Dutchman’s breeches and looking for morel mushrooms. These early garden adventures set the stage for the rest of my life. When I joined Garden Gate magazine as an editor in 1996, one of my favorite parts of the work were touring gardens across the country and meeting their enthusiastic creators. I loved seeing the unique approach each gardener took as they developed their personal getaway and interviewing them to learn their secrets with our readers. In nearly 30 years at Garden Gate, I met hundreds of gardeners in their personal havens as we captured their creations in photographs and print, and eventually began developing and leading tours for our readers to some of the most amazing gardens.
Now I’m excited to share the gardens and gardeners that I’ve discovered over the years with guests on carefully curated tours for enthusiastic gardeners. I’ve dedicated my career to sharing interesting stories, helping people learn more about the hobby that we all love and celebrating gardeners.
